Why we LOVE Sea Buckthorn

Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is one of the most nutrient rich fruits in the world, with over 190 bio-active compounds.

One of the richest sources of omega 7 - a fatty acid vital to collagen production, it also contains omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, and is a great source of antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

Sea Buckthorn is highly nourishing and restorative. Used as both food and medicine for over 1000 years, Sea Buckthorn now has the scientific research to back it up. First records of its use are in the ancient Tibetan medical text - Sibu Yi Dian, where there are many chapters devoted to Sea Buckthorn’s therapeutic properties. In 1977 it was formally listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Legend has it that Genghis Khan used Sea Buckthorn to provide stamina and promote combat recovery. Russian cosmonauts reportedly use the oil to help heal radiation burns and the Chinese athletes used it as their national drink during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. We use a concentrated CO2 extract of Sea Buckthorn in ILOVESKIN Scar Oil for it’s amazing topical benefits: it promotes the regeneration of skin tissue, restores elasticity, promotes healing, is anti-inflammatory, rejuvenating and restorative. That’s why we LOVE it. X
